- Pashto · borrowed fromخېبر پښتونخوا
- English todayKhyber Pakhtunkhwa
Transliteration of Urdu خَیبَر پَخْتُونْخْوَا (xaibar paxtūnxvā), in turn an unadapted borrowing from Pashto خېبر پښتونخوا (xēbar paẍtunxwâ). By surface analysis, Khyber + Pakhtunkhwa (“Land of the Pashtun”), literally “the Khyber side of the Pashtun heartland”.
