   As an AD&D pencil & paper player as well as avid BGer I find the spell graphics very interesting. It gives a new element to spells' Area of Effect as well as visualising what they might actually look like 'in the field' as it were.

   Even Ultima IX, which is generally regarded as a slowpokey shoggoth in performance, doesn't take as long to reload savegames, especially when you factor in the fact that, if as recommended by many BGers, you play BG in one-user multiplayer mode, you have to go through the character approval screen on every reload...
