Dawukou

Six years ago, Shizuishan proposed to build a garden city in the desert and initiated another great "water campaign." It planned to create within five years a wetland of about 43 square kilometers with a perennial lake area of 20 square kilometers in the Dawukou District (大武口区) where the municipal government is located.

There are numerous cases of resolving group visits. For example, based on the service advantage of "grid management", Chaoyang Subdistrict in Dawukou District, Shizuishan City, Ningxia Province, successfully resolved a group petition incident caused by the reconstruction of the gate of Ningmei Taixi Kindergarten in its jurisdiction (Wang & Lan, 2011).

Dawukou District in the city of Shizuishan, northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is known for the saline and alkaline land located at the foot of Helan Mountain that is very hostile to agriculture. The district, part of an old coal-mining region that closed five years ago, has taken up the challenge of transforming the local economy, embracing green agriculture despite the poor soil and lack of water.
