John Asscroft

In all this furor about terror in which John Asscroft is attempting to take the country into the dark ages of Secret Police states again, he has issued a rather unnoticed directive that, if your doctor prescribes medicine in a way that Asscroft deems unacceptable, he will try and put the doctor out of business by denial of a federal prescription license.

Did anyone see John Asscroft testifying before that Congressional committee yesterday? He is refusing to answer direct questions without invoking any legal thing like executive privilege, 5th amendment, etc., so is being threatened with being held in contempt of Congress.
