The trachytic-phonolitic Campanian Ignimbrite eruption, the largest eruption of the last 200 ka in Europe, erupted from the Phlegrean Fields on the Bay of Naples (Italy) ~39,300 years ago. Geological evidence suggests that the eruption had two main phases; beginning with a sustained Plinian phase followed by a secondary co-ignimbrite phase.
