Meanings
plural cochitos
- rareThe vaquita (Phocoena sinus).
The cochito has been killed accidentally in gill nets set near San Felipe and along the Sonoran coast for the totoaba, a large sea bass. This fishery began during the late 1940s, and as many as ten cochitos are known to have been caught in a single day as recently as the early 1970s.
