Meanings
plural corneocytes
- An outer skin cell.
The cells at the surface of our skin have undergone a major ‘remodelling’ (differentiation) to become corneocytes, which are flattened polygonal plates made mainly of keratin (the same protein that makes nails, hair, and also feathers in birds).
