Meanings
- Cold wind of the Alps in Switzerland.
The strong west wind spends itself upon this great outlier of the chain of Mont Blanc, and raises the snow into fearful eddies, called tourmentes in the French and Guxen in the German Alps, which are justly feared by those who have been exposed to them.
