This statute was discovered in the Karnak Cachete. It ws^([sic – meaning was]) originally dedicated in the temple of Amun by Khaernwaset, one of many statues placed in temples by owners who hoped to gain the benefit of the offerings and prayers addressed to the gods. A naophorous statue (one representing the owner holding a shrine, or naos) was particularly useful in this regard, as the god in the naos would received prayers and perhaps offerings right in front of the statue's owner.
