flying ice cube effects

A form of flying ice cube effect — An artifact in molecular dynamics simulations, in which the energy of high-frequency fundamental modes is drained into low-frequency modes, due to repeated rescalings of velocities. In the simulation of particles in vacuum, this results in a conformation reminiscent of a rigid body flying through space.
