Meanings
plural circules
- A small circle, used in printed matter as a reference mark to refer the reader to a note.
When a phrase is the subject of the Mp [Masora parva] note, a raised circule is printed between each of the words within the phrase.
1998, Page H. Kelley, Daniel S. Mynatt, and Timothy G. Crawford, The Masorah of Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia: Introduction and annotated glossary, page 51 more example
When a single word in the text has a single note in the Mp [Masora parva], the circule which refers to this note is placed over the word as close to its center as the limitations of printing permit.
